School Readiness Program

Kids Own Early Childhood Learing Centre

School readiness program

At Kids Own Early Childhood Learning Centre, we believe that preparing children for school
is about much more than learning letters and numbers. It is about building confidence,
resilience, curiosity, and a strong sense of identity and belonging.

Both our 3–4 year old and 4–6 year old Kindergarten children benefit from a wide range of
programs and resources designed to enrich their learning journey. Through careful
observation, planning, and reflection, our educators identify each child’s strengths and
needs, then invite various professionals to share, coach, and mentor both teachers and
children to reach their full potential.

Aligned with the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLF) and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) – Belonging, Being and Becoming – our school readiness program draws on a holistic approach, including:

  • WAYAPA®️ Wuurrk – connecting to Country, Earth, and wellbeing.
  • 8 Ways Pedagogy – Indigenous ways of learning through story, symbols, land, and community.
  • Resilience in Early Years – supporting social-emotional development and self-regulation.
  • Allied Health Supports – including Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Art Therapy, and other professional services tailored to individual needs.
  • Creative and Cultural Enrichment – art, music, movement, and storytelling to nurture imagination and communication.

Together, these programs support, extend, and enhance children’s learning and development, providing them with the best possible foundation for a smooth transition into school and a lifelong love of learning.
